Saana ja Olli is a designer couple and award-winning design company from Turku, Finland. In their work they value timelessness and human touch.
We met each other in 2004, at a music festival in the woods of Oripää, Finland. Soon afterwards we started dating and ended up studying textile design together. We realised that the current market was lacking in sustainably produced interior textiles we liked, and proceeded to fill this void with our products.
Recently the duo has collaborated with Finnish label Finarte to create a collection of recycled cotton carpets. Handcrafted in India under socially responsible conditions that are strictly regulated to ensure workers are safe and fairly treated, the patterned rugs are made of leftover cotton from the textile industry and printed by hand.
For this carpet collection the duo designed a set of three print designs, Aitta (granary), Kievari (tavern) and Piilopirtti (hideaway) that together form a coherent, yet distinguishable collection.
