Hasami Porcelain has just arrived in our store in The Hague. We are over the moon as it has been on our wishlist for quite a while.
This beautiful tableware is not just another collection of ceramics, it is made of a mixture of porcelain and clay, at a specific ratio. This makes the texture firmer and sharper than earthenware, yet comfortable to the touch. Besides, the feel to the ware is much more organic than that of regular porcelain.
What we love most about Hasami Porcelain is its modular character. Because of their shared diameter, the Hasami designs are multi-functional. For example, a plate may also be used as a lid, a bowl functions just as well as a cup and a small plate might become a salt cellar.
Hasami Porcelain’s straight lines represent the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics. The curves are the result of the inevitability of function and production. The rhythm and echo of the clean lines, created by stacking, enhance the harmony and beauty of the design.
