Measuring cord pull blinds
Inside mount
Step 1
For the width of the blinds, measure across the top, middle, and bottom of the widow frame.
Step 2
If you are fitting into a recess, make a note of the smallest measurement, then deduct a minimum of 1 centimeter. This will be the finished size for the width.
Step 3
Then, do the same for the drop — measuring from the top of the recess down to the bottom of the window. Note down the smallest measurement. If you are fitting into a recess then subtract at least 3 centimeters. This will be the finished size for the height of the blind. Only use this measurement if you do not want a small roll at the bottom of the blind.
The standard measurement of the blind is the measurement of the actual bamboo material from edge to edge. The fixtures on the top of the blind (metal loops) measure another 2 cm.
Take into account the type of hooks that you want to use to mount the blinds and whether these will be placed horizontally or vertically. Included are hooks for horizontal mounting.
Examples
Example 1 The window frame measures 150 cm from top to bottom. The blinds must be cut at a maximum of 147 cm if you would like them to hang them without being rolled up at all.
If you would like the blinds to hang within the window frame and go all the way to the edges width-wise, subtract 1 cm from the measurements of the window frame – then the blinds can be rolled up and down without hitting anything.
Example 2 The window frame measures 120 cm in width. The blinds must measure 119 cm in order to be rolled up and down without touching the window frame.
In an old building with crooked windows, we generally recommend leaving 1 cm on either side – so here you substract 2 centimeters from the width. You can always substract more, depending on your taste, leaving more of the window frame in sight.
Trimming
The blinds can be trimmed both in width and length. The trimming can be selected when you select the product.
When you consider trimming the blind length-wise, be advised that we recommend some extra length (about 10 to 15 cm) to hang as a little roll which makes trimming in some cases unnecessary. The roll is visually appealing and keeps the blinds in position by adding some weight at the bottom, this avoids fluttering.
This solution will make your blinds fit nicely, as you can always adjust the length to keep the gap at the bottom to a minimum. Moreover, it avoids the blinds to be too long when possible stretching occurs over time and a very precise length was initially desired. It just makes things easier.
We do not recommend adjusting the blinds yourself.
Cord pull
The cord pull is placed on the right side of the blinds by default. A surcharge occurs if you wish the cord pull to be replaced to the left, just leave your wishes in the 'order notes' section in your cart before you check out.
Measuring chain pull blinds
Inside mount (in de dag)
Step 1
First, using a metal tape measure, measure across the top of the window, the middle, and the bottom.
Step 2
The narrowest measurement of the three is the measure we call the recess width.
Step 3
Then, do the same for the drop — measuring from the top of the recess down to the bottom of the window sill. This will be the finished size for the height of the blind.
These will be the dimensions when placing the order on our website.
Check that your recess is deep enough to fit the blind into, also bearing in mind any obstructions such as window or handles.
Please note that the fabric width will always be narrower than the recess width, leaving a gap of approximately 2 to 2.5 cm on each side of the blind.
Outside mount (op de dag)
Step 1
Measure across the top, middle and bottom of the window frame. Add around 10 cm to the biggest width dimension to minimize light leakage, this can be more or less according your wishes.
Step 2 – Then, do the same for the drop — measuring from the top of the recess down to the bottom of the window. The overlap at the bottom is a matter of personal choice but please take into account obstacles such as radiators.
Leave these dimensions in the comment field when checking out.
If you have a window frame around the window, please take this into account and adjust the width accordingly.
